1. Application Terms & Agreements
The terms and privacy policy are reviewed and updated by the Enlightium Prep Academy (EPA) administration annually. By re-enrolling or remaining enrolled after the terms or privacy policy is updated, you affirm your agreement to continue to be bound by these terms. A notification is provided to currently enrolled families via email when the terms are updated.
1.1 Statement of Faith
I understand that each subject within Enlightium Prep’s curriculum is Christian-based and agree to have my student fulfill EPA’s requirements.
I understand that Bible is a required course at Enlightium Prep per the accreditation requirements of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). By enrolling our student(s) at EPA, we agree to follow the Biblical standards as outlined in the Family Handbook.
1.2 Academics
I understand that it is my responsibility to familiarize myself with the Family Handbook. Please note that the terms “parent” and “guardian” are used interchangeably at Enlightium Prep.
I understand that I will be invited to register with the EPA Parents app (an online platform and mobile application for parents/guardians). I agree to check my EPA Parents app account at least once a week for school news and updates.
I understand the importance of my commitment and involvement to ensure success for my student, so I will make sure to create a focused learning environment at home where my student is able to complete schoolwork without distractions.
I agree to check the email account that I provided on the enrollment form on a weekly basis for news from EPA regarding events, notices, and tuition, and I agree to respond as applicable.
I understand that students in grade 12 who meet Enlightium Prep graduation requirements and comply with their state’s school requirements, in general, are accepted by public and private colleges and universities nationwide. I also understand that some colleges and universities have unique admission requirements, so it is my responsibility to contact colleges/universities that I am considering to determine what, if any, additional admission requirements exist.
I understand that Enlightium Prep may highlight or showcase students with EPA’s stakeholders and/or for marketing purposes through internal or external communication and that, typically, the student’s first name, last initial, grade level, and state of residence would be used, except in cases where I provide written permission allowing for more personally identifiable information. An example includes a recording of a Speech Meet contest, which may include the winning student’s first name, last initial, grade level, and state of residence.
1.3 Attendance
I understand that Enlightium Prep monitors my student’s progress regularly and will notify me via email and/or phone in cases of extended inactivity, academic concerns, or required parental action. I agree to notify the EPA Office via phone in case of my student's absence as soon as possible.
I understand that, as an approved and accredited private school, Enlightium Prep abides by a truancy policy and as such reserves the right to withdraw a student who has low progress in the curriculum for one quarter.
I understand that Enlightium Prep reserves the right to deny enrollment to any student if the administration team believes that the family is unable to support their student’s academic needs sufficiently.
1.4 Withdrawal
I understand that in the event that I choose to withdraw my student from Enlightium Prep for any reason and at any time, I am responsible for filling out the Withdrawal Form. I also understand that when I and/or another school request records from EPA, three to five business days may be required for the Enlightium Prep Office to prepare and send records to my student’s next school.
I understand that a report card/transcript will not be released until the withdrawal fee and tuition due are paid; this withdrawal policy applies if the withdrawal is initiated by myself or the Enlightium Prep administration due to lack of payment, low academic progress, poor attendance, and/or failure to comply with EPA policies.
1.5 Billing
I authorize Enlightium Prep to electronically charge my debit card, credit card, or bank account for tuition, as outlined below, and, if necessary, to electronically charge my debit or credit card to correct an erroneous transaction. I also understand that Enlightium Preparatory Academy may send the account to a debt collection agency if accounts are determined uncollectible.
I understand that the first tuition payment will be made with the card on record as early as three days after the enrollment form is submitted. The amount to charge will be based on information provided on the enrollment form, such as the student’s grade and, if applicable, the teacher support package chosen. I also understand that if the final tuition differs from that stated on the enrollment form, the difference will be communicated to my family via email and the remaining payment(s) will be adjusted accordingly.
1.6 Technical
All families need to opt into various forms of communication from Enlightium Prep, including email, SMS text, and use of the EPA Parents app.
I understand that my student is expected to adhere to Enlightium Prep student behavioral policies as presented in the Family Handbook under the Technology Use Policy. I understand that if my student’s online activities pose a security risk to Enlightium Prep and/or other students, EPA reserves the right to take immediate action to disable their school accounts at which time a meeting will be arranged between the student, their parents/guardians, and the administration to discuss potential disciplinary actions to prevent such behavior. I understand that it is my responsibility to inform my student of the potential dangers associated with meeting strangers in online chatrooms and accessing websites with questionable content.

Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act (FERPA)
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education.
Enlightium Preparatory Academy, as a private Christian school, does not receive any funds from the government, though we follow the privacy policy guidance as an accredited and approved K-12 school.
FERPA gives parents certain rights with respect to their children's education records. However, these rights transfer to the student when he or she reaches the age of 18 or attends a school beyond the high school level. Students to whom the rights have transferred are "eligible students".
Generally, Enlightium Preparatory Academy must have written permission from the eligible student in order to release any information from a student's education record. However, according to FERPA, EPA will disclose educational records without consent to the following parties or under the following conditions (34 CFR § 99.31):
-School officials with legitimate educational interests;
-Other schools to which a student is transferring;
-Specified officials for audit or evaluation purposes;
-Appropriate parties in connection with financial aid to a student;
-Organizations conducting certain studies for or on behalf of the school;
-Accrediting organizations;
-To comply with a judicial order or lawfully issued subpoena;
-Appropriate officials in cases of health and safety emergencies; and/or
-State and local authorities, within a juvenile justice system, pursuant to specific state law.
In the case that Enlightium Preparatory Academy receives a judicial order or a lawfully issued subpoena, EPA will make a reasonable effort to contact the student and/or eligible parents to notify them of EPA’s intention to comply with the order or subpoena. EPA will notify the student and/or parents of the date on which EPA intends to comply to allow time for the student and/or family to appeal or quash the subpoena should they wish to do so.
An eligible student/alumni can fill out and sign Enlightium Prep’s Consent to Release and Share Information Form approving communication and sharing of information to any person or organization he or she deems appropriate. For additional information, visit the Federal Relay Service website.
Children Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)
The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) puts parents in control when it comes to the collection of personal information from children under the age of 13. The COPPA Rule, defines what website operators and providers of online services must do to protect children's privacy and safety online. We do not specifically market to children under the age of 13 years old, including ad networks or plug-ins that collect personally identifiable information.
CAN-SPAM Act
The CAN-SPAM Act is a law that sets the rules for commercial email, establishes requirements for commercial messages, gives recipients the right to stop receiving emails, and spells out tough penalties for violations.
We collect your email address in order to:
-Send information, respond to inquiries, and/or other requests or questions.
-Process orders and to send information and updates pertaining to orders.
-Send you additional information related to your product and/or service.
-Market to our mailing list or continue to send emails to our clients after the original transaction has occurred.
-To be in accordance with CAN-SPAM, we agree to the following:
-Not use false or misleading subjects or email addresses.
-Identify the message as an advertisement in some reasonable way.
-Include the physical address of our business or site headquarters.
-Monitor third-party email marketing services for compliance, if one is used.
-Honor opt-out/unsubscribe requests quickly.
-Allow users to unsubscribe by using the link at the bottom of non-transactional emails.

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
The GDPR is a legal framework that sets forth guidelines for the collection and processing of personal information from individuals who live in the European Union.
The seven key principles of GDPR are (1) lawfulness, fairness, and transparency; (2) purpose limitation; (3) data minimization; (4) accuracy; (5) storage limitation; (6) integrity and confidentiality (security); and (7) accountability.
Pursuant to these principles, we have already given indication in our Privacy Policy above and our Web Terms of Service policy below as to what data we collect, how we collect that data, how we use said data, and how we utilize cookies on our website. One further point of clarification is that all of our customer data is stored on secure encrypted platforms. We also keep offline, encrypted backups in a secured fireproof safe. Our employees may also temporarily store your data on their work computers’ hard drives during the day-to-day operations. It is our policy that they delete such data in a timely manner and keep it stored securely on our cloud-based platforms.
GDPR offers a robust set of rights that give EU residents a high level of control over their information and data. We strive to honor these rights within a reasonable framework and extend this as well to all of our customers regardless of their country of origin and residence. Below are what we generally offer pursuant to these rights:
1. The right to access - You have the right to request EPA for copies of your personal data. We may charge you a small fee for this service.
2. The right to rectification - You have the right to request that EPA correct any information you believe is inaccurate, under certain and reasonable conditions. You also have the right to request EPA to complete information you believe is incomplete, under certain and reasonable conditions. This is subject to administrative review and approval as, for example, we cannot simply correct report cards or transcripts without a formal and rigorous review process.
3. The right to erasure - You have the right to request that EPA erase your personal data, under certain and reasonable conditions. This applies to addresses, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, payment methods, confidential correspondences, and general contact information saved in our systems. Because we are an educational institution, we retain the right to maintain all necessary records that are a part of the school processes (i.e., previous school records, transcripts, report cards, assignments, etc.).
4. The right to restrict processing - You have the right to request that EPA restrict the processing of your information under certain and reasonable conditions in any manner that does not interfere with our core business processes.
5. The right to object to processing - You have the right to object to EPA’s processing of your personal data, under certain and reasonable conditions, in any manner that does not interfere with our core business processes.
6. The right to data portability - You have the right to request that EPA transfer the data we have collected to another organization, or directly to you, under certain and reasonable conditions.
Though EPA cannot outline every possible scenario that may fall under these rights, our administrative team will consider and discuss with you more thoroughly the certain and reasonable conditions mentioned, per your request. Please keep in mind that there is a point in which the limitations you place on your data hinder our ability to support you, and thus we retain the right to reasonably limit the extent to which we can comply with GDPR rights in order to maintain our school processes and continue to do business with you. You have the right to not continue enrollment at EPA and to restrict the data collected thus far.
You will be notified of any Privacy Policy changes:
